GEON E61 Enhanced with Addition of Real-time Data Processing, Display

ArroTech founder/chief technical officer Tobias Leininger, having developed the data-capture capabilities of the GEON E61system, worked to bring about real-time data processing, visualization and display.

To that pursuit, he dedicated countless hours until finally the necessary pieces came together, making possible the immediate display of mission results on a map on the system’s control tablet. The achievement required the creation of custom communication protocols, interfaces and data processing and display programs.

The GEON E61 system pinpoints and maps the locations of landmines and unexploded ordnance, which equate to unattended weapons of war.

“Multiple systems have to work together, and a lot of work went into each part,” Leininger said in discussing his work on the latest GEON E61 advance. “The data flows from the drone to the ground control station, where the automated processing software analyzes it in real time for transfer to the tablet, where it is displayed on the map.”

While the GEON E61 drone is flying, the display shows exactly the area covered during a mission along with targets that have been identified and their shape and size.

“I wanted a flexible system capable of showing any kind of information that can be displayed,” Leininger said. “The new visualization system can show basically anything I want including GEON E61 mission data.”
